My VAT number is not recognized. Why?

You have typed in your VAT number but our website informs you that your number is not valid. This article will allow you to understand the possible reasons behind this notification.

Jamendo Licensing only acknowledges European VAT numbers. Our website is linked to VIES, a portal created by the European Union allowing companies to check whether a given VAT number is a proper European VAT number.

There are two possibilities explaining why your number has not been acknowledged:

• Your number is only a national number
• The VIES portal has gone down and has not been able to check your number. If you are sure that your number is a proper European VAT number, you just need to wait and try again later. The VIES portal does not stay down for long

If your number is only a national one, you can leave the VAT fields empty. You will be allowed to complete the order process without entering it.
