What is royalty-free music?

Royalty-free is a trending word, yet its meaning often remains unclear. Royalty-free music doesn't mean that the music is free but rather implies that the music is free of royalties. 

All the Jamendo artists have stated being 100% independent artists, meaning not being affiliated to any Performance Rights Organization (PRO) such as BMI in the US, SGAE in Spain, GEMA in Germany, PRS in the UK, SACEM in France, etc. Since they do not manage the rights of our artists, such PROs should not be entitled to collect any additional revenues from you.

Our artists have also contractually stated that they own all the rights related to their music (author, performer, publisher, etc.).

Royalty-Free music can thus be defined as a simple, cost-effective licensing solution allowing you to legally use musical works created by independent artists. Our licenses include both synchronization & broadcast rights.
