Is the Large license right for your project?

In this article, we have laid out the Terms of Sales of the Large license and give you some concrete project examples to help you understand the Large license.

A Large license grants you the following rights:

The Large license includes the rights of the Standard license, namely:

• Modify or adapt the track to synchronize it with the below-mentioned projects.
• Synchronize one track with one video or audio content that is published online.
• Use the track as background music for a website.

Furthermore, the Large license includes the rights to:

Synchronize the track with any project that is broadcast or performed in public

• Projects broadcast in public can be for example a video displayed at a point of sale, at a trade fair, at a conference, at a festival and other live events.
• Projects performed in public can be theatre plays, dance exhibitions, circus shows, fireworks and more.
• There is no geographical limitation and no limitation on the number of viewers or participants for projects broadcast/performed in public. 

Synchronize the track with audio content for national radio

• Synchronize the track with any audio content, which is broadcast on national radio (e.g. synchronization with an advert).
• The radio broadcast can be a terrestrial, cable or satellite radio.
• For the broadcast on international radio, an Extended license is required.

Synchronize the track with video content for local/regional TV

• Synchronize the track with any video content, which is broadcast on local/regional TV (e.g. advert, documentary, film).
• The local/regional broadcast on TV allows a maximum of 1,000,000 (one million) viewers.
• The TV broadcast here includes cable, satellite, IP TV, pay-per-view TV channels and free TV channels.
• For broadcast on national TV or for more than one million viewers, the Extended license is required.
• The broadcast on paid or subscription-based video-on-demand services requires a Full Scale license.

Synchronize the track with video content for local/regional cinema

• Synchronize the track with any video content, which is broadcast in local/regional cinemas (e.g. films, documentaries, adverts).
• The local/regional broadcast in cinema allows a maximum of 100,000 (one hundred thousand) viewers.
• For broadcast in a national cinema or for more than one hundred thousand viewers, the Extended license is required.

Synchronize the track with a project that is distributed on an analog or digital storage medium with a maximum of 50,000 copies

• Analog and digital storage mediums include among others: CD, DVD, BluRay, Audiobooks and Audioguides.
• The Large license allows a maximum of 50,000 (fifty thousand) copies of the storage medium.
• For the distribution of more than 50,000 copies, the Extended license is required.

Synchronize the track with software or a pc/console video game with a maximum of 50,000 copies

• The synchronization with software or pc/console video game that can be accessed through any physical media, through download and/or through streaming.
• The distribution can be made through app stores including Apple Store, Windows Store, Stream, GOG, XBLA, PlayStation Store, Origin, UPlay, and others.
• The Large license allows a maximum of 50,000 (fifty thousand) copies of the software or pc/console video game.
• For the distribution of more than 50,000 copies, the Extended license is required.

Synchronize the track in a mobile application allowing for ten million downloads

• Synchronize the track with an application for smartphones/tablets.
• The Large license includes the rights for a maximum of 10,000,000 downloads of the app. Should the number exceed ten million, then an Extended license is required.
• The distribution is allowed through any mobile application store without geographical limitation (e.g. Google Play Store, Apple Store, Windows Phone Store, Amazon Store, Tizen).
• The number of downloads is the combined number of downloads in all mobile stores.
• The Large license does NOT allow the use of a track in a music app where the purpose is listening and downloading music.
• The Large license also does NOT allow end-users of the app to create any video project with the track.
