In this article, we have laid out the Terms of Sales of the Extended license and give you some concrete project examples to help you understand the Extended license.

An Extended license grants you the following rights:

The Extended license includes the rights of the Large and Standard licenses, namely:

• Modify or adapt the track to synchronize it with the below-mentioned projects.
• Synchronize one track with one video or audio content that is published online.
• Use the track as background music for a website.
• Synchronize the track with any project that is broadcast or performed in public.

Furthermore, the Extended license includes the rights to:

Synchronize the track with audio content for radio worldwide

• Synchronize the track with any audio content, which is then broadcast on international radio (e.g. synchronization with an advert).
• The radio broadcast can be a terrestrial, cable or satellite radio.

Synchronize the track with video content for national TV

• Synchronize the track with any video content, which can be broadcast on nationwide TV (e.g. advert, documentary, film).
• The TV broadcast here includes cable, satellite, IP TV, pay-per-view TV channels and free TV channels.
• For broadcast, on worldwide TV the Full Scale license is required.
• The broadcast on paid or subscription-based video-on-demand services requires a Full Scale license.

Synchronize the track with video content for national cinema

• Synchronize the track with any video content, which is broadcast in cinemas nationwide (e.g. films, documentaries, adverts).
• For broadcast, in cinema worldwide, the Full Scale license is required.

Synchronize the track with a project that is distributed on an analog or digital storage medium with a maximum of 500,000 copies

• Analog and digital storage mediums include among others: CD, DVD, BluRay, Audiobooks and Audioguides.
• The Extended license allows a maximum of 500,000 (five hundred thousand) copies of the storage medium.
• For the distribution of unlimited copies, the Full Scale license is required.

Synchronize the track with software or a pc/console video game with a maximum of 500,000 copies

• The synchronization with software or pc/console video game that can be accessed through any physical media, through download and/or through streaming.
• The distribution can be made through app stores including Apple Store, Windows Store, Stream, GOG, XBLA, PlayStation Store, Origin, UPlay, and others.
• The Extended license allows a maximum of 500,000 (five hundred thousand) copies of the software or pc/console video game.
• For the distribution of unlimited copies, the Full Scale license is required.

Synchronize the track in a mobile application allowing for unlimited downloads

• Synchronize the track with an application for smartphones/tablets.
• The Extended license allows for unlimited downloads of the app.
• The distribution is allowed through any mobile application store without geographical limitation (e.g. Google Play Store, Apple Store, Windows Phone Store, Amazon Store, Tizen).
• The Extended license does NOT allow the use of a track in a music app where the purpose is listening and downloading music.
• The Extended license also does NOT allow end-users of the app to create any video project with the track.
